Thanks to Pet First Aid and Training (New Zealand) the following poisons fact sheets should be complusory reading for all owners of dogs. They are simple and as comprehensive as I have seen! They can be downloaded via this link.
The information at the end needs to be directed to Australian equivalents.
If you do suspect your pet may have been poisoned contact your vet immediately. This is a veterinary emergency and quick action may well save your pet's life. Failure to act fast is often fatal. However when veterinary attention is given pronto, many animals survive the poisoning incident.
Always have your vet's phone number saved to your phones, as well as displayed in a prominant place in your home, such as where you keep other emergency numbers.
