This fox killed my chickens on Friday night!
It returned the following evening to the scene of the crime, ready to eat more of its kill!
It was humanely caught, the following evening in a fox trap, with a door that locks it inside, that was baited with the carcass of one of my darling girls.
The fox was later released with the agreement of a farmer at Wallace, where it is now enjoying a plentiful diet of rabbits and not my beloved chickens.
While waiting for my nephew to pick it up, I gave it several drinks from a watering can.
If nothing else, this video proves just how tame urban foxes are, showing little or no fear of humans.
Despite the fact I knew the fox killed my girls, I could not bare the thought of it being thirsty, nor could I deny its beauty!
There is now one less fox predating not just on my chickens, but the wildlife and water birds at the nearby Lake Wendouree!
